| KIMBERLY - There might be no more perfect way to wind down a summer weekend than with some live music. Fans of Kimberly’s Sunday at the Amphitheater programs have less than a month before the bands begin to play. Kimberly’s amphitheater board finalized its schedule for the 2007 season, and plans to provide audiences with a wide array of musical genres during the summer months. Concerts range from polka to blue grass, big band and children’s music. Each of the shows begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free for the community to attend. Al Schaefer, community enrichment director for the village, said the board always attempts to craft a schedule with variety. They hope to provide family-oriented music, but also music they know will draw a crowd. It’s been a popular series for not only the audience, but also performers. "People love playing here," Schaefer said. "It’s a great crowd, a great facility, and they’ve called us asking if they could come back." This summer’s concert series is in its 11th season. Marcia Trentlage, a village trustee and president of the amphitheater board, said audiences will find a noticeable leap in sound quality this summer. She informed the village board last week that the amphitheater is being equipped with a new sound system. Those who don’t get their full music fix on Sundays will have plenty of other opportunities to enjoy live music at the facility. The Kimberly Community Band will play Wednesday nights at the amphitheater from June 15 through Aug. 15. The only exceptions are July 4 and Aug. 1. The amphitheater will get little rest on the week of July 15. The Sunday show will be followed by a Wednesday community band concert before Paperfest brings in its lineup from Thursday through Sunday, July 22. Paperfest acts include Gin Blossoms and local favorites Vic Ferrari and Boogie and the YoYo’z. Jim Collar can be reached at 920-993-1000, ext. 216, or at jcollar@postcrescent.com. |
