Fan Favorite Award
Make sure to bring all your fans because in addition to official judging by the Dave Lawrence School of Drumming, your fans will have their say. A Fan Favorite award will be presented to the band with the most fan votes on Saturday.
Participating Bands Featured on Paperfest Web Site
Paperfest regularly draws large crowds and this year's 22nd anniversary event is expected to be the best ever. In addition, the Battle of the Bands is being promoted locally via radio, TV and Internet, in addition to flyers and word of mouth contact. Participating bands will be listed on the Paperfest web site, with a link to your official band web site or MySpace page.
Here's how it works:
Eighteen bands will play three songs each to compete in the opening round on Saturday, July 17. Five finalists will advance to play a 45-minute set on Sunday, July 18. The finals competition will be held on Sunday, July 18. Cash prizes go to all the finalists,
with the winner playing a paid gig at Octoberfest and at next year's Paperfest celebration. Talent scouts will be on hand throughout the contest, looking for the best of the best to play at next year's Paperfest celebration.July 5th Deadline
Openings remain, but not for long. Bands wanting to compete should sign up now. Entries must be received no later than July 5th. Remember, there are only 18 slots to be filled, first come-first serve.
Paperfest Battle of the Bands winner awards include:
- 1st place - $250, plus guaranteed spot at Appleton's Octoberfest '10
- 2nd place - $200
- 3rd place - $150
- 4th place - $100
- 5th place - $50
Battle Guidelines:
- Applications are open to any musical group ensemble with three or more members.
- All applicants must submit one recording, either CD or tape, with three selections.
- Total performance time not to exceed 15 minutes.
- Original and cover songs accepted.
- Lyric sheets for the three songs MUST BE provided.
- Selections performed at competition MUST BE the same three selections that were originally approved.
- Profane language or dress will not be tolerated.
- 18 bands will be selected to perform at the Paperfest competition.
- The competition will be held on the Big Hill Stage at Sunset Park in Kimberly, Wisconsin.
- The qualifying for finals competition will be held Saturday, July 17.
- The finals competition will be held Sunday, July 18.
- Five bands from the qualifying competition will be selected to perform a 45 minute set at the final competition.
